The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment is organising the regional meeting where all the states of the Northeast - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and Sikkim – will be present.

The meeting will focus on discussions around consensus on labour reforms, eShram-national database of unorganised workers, building and other construction workers, employees’ state insurance corporation and employment generation initiatives, the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a press statement.

Other issues like establishment of e-Shram portal as a one-stop solution for easy access to social security benefits for unorganised workers including migrant workers, expansion of coverage of various Central welfare schemes to building and other construction workers and upgradation of employment exchanges, among others will also be discussed during the meeting, it added.

The meeting marks the culmination of an ongoing series of six regional consultations organised by the ministry with the states and union territories which commenced on August 30, 2024, it further said.
