Assam: Massive fire guts down five shops in Guwahati

Guwahati: A massive fire was reported from the Sarumotoria area of Guwahati, Assam on Monday destroying at least five shops in the vicinity.

According to reports, the cause of the fire is not yet known but locals have attributed it to an electrical fault.

At least six fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the fire.

While property worth several lakhs of rupees was lost in the fire, there were no reports of any casualties or injuries to anyone.

A local said that they suspect the fire to be caused by an electrical fault as the area usually witnesses severe electricity malfunction.

An investigation is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire.
