Assam: Man found dead inside room in Sivasagar, drug overdose suspected

Guwahati: A 25-year-old man was found dead inside a house in Sivasagar, Assam hinting at a possible case of drug overdose.

Police said that they are investigating the death of the man who was found under mysterious circumstances.

They further said that the man was identified as 25-year-old Bablu Barman.

His body was discovered in a rented room belonging to his friend Rahul Kumar in the Naojan area of Sivasagar.

Initial investigations suggest a possible drug overdose, the police said after finding a drug syringe and two empty containers at the scene.

It was further reported that before his death, Barman had an argument with Rahul Kumar, the original tenant, over a drug shortage.

Call records found on Kumar's phone hinted at a fight between the two regarding the drug supply, police sources said.

The deceased's body has been sent to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for autopsy.

The police said that they are thoroughly investigating this incident and have brought Kumar under the scanner.
