Assam: Man arrested with heroin worth lakhs in Golaghat

Guwahati: The police arrested a man in Golaghat, Assam with eight containers of suspected heroin on Tuesday.

A police source said that the man arrested with the heroin is also a suspected bike lifter.

He has been identified as Ajay Singh.

The accused allegedly brought the suspected heroin from Dimapur in Nagaland to sell it in Golaghat, Assam.

The police stated that based on specific input, an operation was conducted at Juria Dolong near the Nambor Forest in Golaghat.

They had inputs that a person was heading towards Golaghat with a significant quantity of heroin.

On coming across Singh, the police checked him and found eight boxes of heroin weighing 132 grams in his possession along with a scooter.

Based on the recovery, Sigh was arrested by the police on the spot and taken into custody.
