Assam: Man arrested for duping five worth Rs 30 lakh with fake job offers

Guwahati: A man from Dibrugarh, Assam was arrested by the police for allegedly running a job scam in Guwahati.

According to reports, the man identified as Lohit Das was arrested by the Dispur Police in Guwahati.

He is a resident of Dibrugarh and was engaged as a physical instructor.

He is accused of orchestrating a job scam that duped five unsuspecting youths.

Das allegedly issued fake appointment letters for positions at the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, luring victims with promises of government jobs.

The accused allegedly extracted a total of Rs 30 lakh from the victims, providing each with alleged fraudulent appointment letters.

Police said that these letters made the victims believe they had secured legitimate employment.

Das's deceitful scheme was uncovered following a thorough investigation by city police based on inputs.

Further investigations are underway to uncover any additional accomplices.
