Guwahati: In a significant step towards strengthening the aviation industry in Assam, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Airbus India Private Limited. The collaboration aims to bridge the skills gap, foster innovation, and promote sustainable growth in the aviation and logistics sectors of the region.

The MoA was signed in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a ceremony held at IIT Guwahati. The partnership will focus on areas such as transportation, industries, hospitality, skilling, agriculture, and logistics.

Dr. Sarma said that this collaboration will help in addressing the current skills gap and elevating the global competitiveness of the aviation and logistics sectors in the Northeast.

The MoA will facilitate the development of a robust and dynamic workforce, boosting the aviation and logistics sector. It will also address pressing challenges in these fields and co-create solutions for the future of aviation in the region.

The MoA includes the establishment of a Global Skilling Centre in Aviation and Logistics Business, which will provide comprehensive training to meet industry demands and support the UDAN Yojana initiative.

This initiative will significantly improve employment and career advancement opportunities for individuals in the region and elevate service quality in both the logistics and aviation sectors.

Dr. Sarma assured the government of Assam's full support to IIT Guwahati and Airbus India Private Limited in developing Guwahati as one of the best aviation and logistics hubs in the country. He also announced plans to set up a semiconductor manufacturing unit in the state.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from IIT Guwahati, Airbus India, and other dignitaries.
