Guwahati: Muanthang Tungnung, a 2000-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer has been suspended by the Assam government for failing to comply with transfer orders.

According to the order, Tungnung, who was serving as the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) for the Dima Hasao district, was transferred to the position of Field Director for Manas Tiger Reserve in February 2024.

However, the order states that Tungnung did not take up the new position.

Subsequently, in March 2024, he was relieved from his duties as CCF for Dima Hasao and relieved of his additional charge as CCF for Southern Assam Circle.

The order further states that Tungnung violated government guidelines requiring officers to comply with transfer orders within a week of receiving them.

Citing unbecoming conduct and violation of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, the government order suspends Tungnung under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.

While suspended, Tungnung will report to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in Guwahati.
