Guwahati: The National Highway 27 in Assam, which links Haflong and Silchar, has been entirely closed to traffic due to relentless rainfall, according to reports on Monday.

The Jatinga River has been overflowing as a result of continuous downpours in the Dima Hasao district over the past few days, causing a significant portion of the crucial highway between Jatinga and Haflong to be submerged.

Emergency response teams are actively working to clear the road and restore access as swiftly as possible.

Earlier this year in May, the Dima Hasao police administration issued an emergency directive suspending traffic on National Highway 27 between Haflong and Mahur.

Additionally, the highway remains closed at N-Leikul until further notice.
