Assam govt re-engages two top police officials beyond retirement

IPS officer Hiren Chandra Nath has been re-engaged as Special ADGP (SB) while Jitmol Doley, has been appointed as IGP (Operation), on a contractual basis for two years.

Guwahati: In a move aimed at bolstering the state's law and order machinery, the Assam government has re-engaged two experienced police officers beyond their retirement dates.

IPS officer Hiren Chandra Nath, who was set to retire as Additional Director General of Police (Special Branch) on September 30, 2024, has been re-engaged as Special Additional Director General of Police (Special Branch) for a period of two years.

ADGP Nath's appointment will be effective from October 1, 2024.

Additionally, Jitmol Doley, IPS (Retd.), has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (Operation), Assam (Headquarters - Guwahati) on a contractual basis for two years. His tenure will also commence on October 1, 2024.

Both appointments have been made in the interest of public service and were approved by the Assam Cabinet during a meeting held on September 24, 2024, read a notification. The terms and conditions for their remuneration will be governed by relevant government guidelines.
