Guwahati: The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) was held successfully amid tight security with no untoward incident being reported from any part of the state during the course of the exam.

The exam was conducted on Sunday (September 15, 2024) to fill the vacant posts of Group-III employees in various Assam government departments.

The state government had made elaborate arrangements to ensure a fair selection of candidates.

The three-hour exam was conducted between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm with mobile data and internet services being suspended across the state from 10 am to 1.30 pm in order to conduct a free and fair exam.

Heavy deployment of security forces were seen outside the examination centres across the state.

A total of 429 examination centres were marked as sensitive due to their geographical location and past history of cheating and other malpractices.

However, the exam was conducted peacefully with no untoward incident being reported from the total 2,305 centres at the end of the exam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to the social media to inform that the ADRE exam - held for the first time - has concluded peacefully.

“My deepest gratitude to all the officers and staff of the Assam government who have successfully completed this monumental task without any issue,” the Chief Minister said in a post on microblogging site X.

CM Sarma reiterated that he assures the younger generation of the state that transparency will remain the government’s hallmark when it comes to government recruitment.

Earlier in the day, candidates in large numbers were seen queuing up before the examination centres since early morning. The gates of the centres were scheduled to open from 10 am.

Altogether, 11,23,204 candidates were eligible to appear for the examination.
