North Lakhimpur: Incessant rain has caused a rise in all major rivers in Lakhimpur attributed to the influence of cyclone Ramel.

In the last 24 hours water levels of Subansiri, Ranganado, Dikrong, Singra, Pabho, Gabharu, Pichola, Dihiri, Kakoi, Bogeenadi, Kumotiya, Korha and Champora rivers have been alarming the villagers living on its proximity.

In Nowboicha Revenue Circle, the torrential water of Singra River swept away many sand-filled geo bags laid on its right-hand side embankment at Chamuahgaon-Borchola stretch.

The work for the embankment of the Singra River has been going on at the cost of Rs. 7.4 crore has been plagued by allegations of faulty and sub-standard work since its start in November last year.

The rain this time has caused lots of cuts and craters on the embankment at Nowboicha.

Meanwhile, there has been no trace of the person who was swept away by the rising water of Ranganadi on Wednesday at Zoihing near North Lakhimpur.

The search operation by SDRF on the river today found no trace of Samson Horo, the missing person three days after the tragedy.
