GUWAHATI: Guwahati – the capital city of Assam and the gateway to the Northeast – is likely to be hit by a fuel crisis.

The Greater Guwahati unit of the Northeast India Petroleum Dealers’ Association (NEIPDA) has declared a complete shutdown of all retail outlets within its jurisdiction, starting from 5:00 am on March 30 until 5:00 am on April 01.

This move will result in oil depots in Guwahati city of Assam remaining shut for all kinds of vehicles for 48 hours.

The protest stems from the dissatisfaction over the lack of enhancement or revision in the dealers’ commission since 2017.

In a statement, the association highlighted its grievances, emphasizing the stagnant commission rates and other unresolved issues concerning the rights of the dealers.

According to the association, previous communications to oil companies regarding these concerns have gone unanswered.
