Guwahati: Four men were arrested from the Bagori range of the Kaziranga National Park in Assam on suspicion of being poachers on Saturday.

The accused were arrested in a joint operation by the Assam Police and forest department officials.

The operation began when Arjun Rongpi from Karbi Anglong was caught attempting to evade the police and forest guards in the protected area of Kaziranga.

Rongpi's arrest led to the capture of three more poachers - Kharsing Bey, Thaijil Lekthe, and Sobar Inglen - all believed to be part of a larger poaching network operating in and around Kaziranga National Park.

A silencer-equipped pistol was seized from Kharsing Bey, suspected to have been used to silently kill animals without alerting forest guards.

Further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the poaching network.
