Two of the arrested individuals are Rabin Kumar Bora,  a resident of Karbi Anglong district’s Diphu and Morigaon district’s Sapon Das.

However, the police refrained from disclosing the names of two others who were female candidates for the exam.

According to the police, Bora allegedly collected the roll numbers of two ADRE candidates - one hailing from Golaghat district and the other from Jorhat district.

Bora in advance provided the candidates specific instructions to be followed during the exam and also forwarded the same to Das.

While the whole procedure was carried out between the accused over the phone, no monetary transaction took place between them.

All the accused were later produced before a court.

Meanwhile, the ADRE was held successfully on Sunday amid tight security with no untoward incident being reported from any part of the state during the course of the exam.

The exam was conducted to fill the vacant posts of Group-III employees in various Assam government departments.

The state government had made elaborate arrangements to ensure a fair selection of candidates.

The three-hour exam was conducted between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.

Heavy deployment of security forces were seen outside the examination centres across the state.

A total of 429 examination centres were marked as sensitive due to their geographical location and past history of cheating and other malpractices.

However, the exam was conducted peacefully with no untoward incident being reported from the total 2,305 centres at the end of the exam.

Altogether, 11,23,204 candidates were eligible to appear for the examination.
