The rhino had quite aged and hence the death might also be age-related as well, the source stated.

The carcass was found near Mona Beel in the range close to a tourist safari route.

The official said there were no signs of any poaching-related activities and the horn was also intact.

Investigations have found paw marks of a possible tiger near the carcass; hence, a tiger attack is also suspected.

It may be mentioned that earlier on January 22, a rhino carcass was found in the Kaziranga National Park in Assam marking it as the year’s first suspected poaching incident.

The carcass belonged to a female rhino and was found in the Maklung Forest Camp in the Agoratoli Range of the KNP.
