Assam: Family severely injured after 12-member gang attack in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: A family in Dibrugarh, Assam was severely injured after being attacked by a "gang" on Tuesday night.

Reports stated that the incident occurred in Chaulkhowa, Dibrugarh, on Tuesday night, when a 12-member gang armed with sharp weapons launched a vicious attack on the residence of Biki Ali, located near the Chaulkhowa railway station.

The gang, who covered their faces with black cloth, stormed into the house and attempted to kill the family members.

Biki Ali suffered severe head injuries while trying to protect his family, while his wife, another woman and a 12-year-old child also sustained serious injuries.

All four victims are currently receiving treatment at Assam Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The family has identified the attackers, who allegedly hail from Chaulkhowa, and have accused Sanju, the secretary of a local mosque, of being the mastermind behind the attack.

The police are currently investigating the incident.

However, the exact motive behind the attack has not yet been officially stated.

A personal enmity has been reported to be the cause of the incident.
