Assam: "Fake doctor" detained in Guwahati, operated clinic for years

Guwahati: A man was detained by the police in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday for allegedly pretending to be a doctor and running a clinic without authorisation.

The accused was identified as NK Mishra.

He was apprehended based on a complaint by another doctor, Abhijit Neog.

Mishra allegedly ran a clinic for a considerable time at Tarun Nagar in Guwahati.

Following Dr Neog's complaint, police launched a probe leading to Mishra's apprehension.

Reports claimed Mishra used a fake registration number to operate his clinic.

It was also alleged that the issue had come forward way back in 2022 but there were no actions taken then.

A police source said that an investigation is being carried out in connection with the issue.
