Assam: Fake currency ring busted in Goalpara, Rs 5.11 lakh seized

Guwahati: A team of Assam Police in Goalpara's Agia area thwarted an alleged counterfeit currency operation on Monday, May 29, arresting two suspected smugglers and seizing a significant amount of fake money.

During the raid, the police apprehended Jamaat Ali (27) and Muslim Ali (35), both residents of Krishnai Ashudubi in Goalpara.

The police recovered Rs 5.11 lakh in fake currency.

A police source said that the alleged traffickers reportedly planned to distribute the counterfeit notes within Budhipara in Goalpara.

The accused have been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated to trace the source of the fake notes.
