Assam Elections 2026: Tinsukia records 56.73% turnout till 1 pm
Digboi: Voting progressed steadily across six Assembly constituencies in Tinsukia district on Thursday, with an overall turnout of 56.73% recorded till 1 p.m., officials said.
Senior citizens and specially-abled voters were among those who turned up in significant numbers during the morning hours, with polling personnel and volunteers assisting them at booths as part of inclusive arrangements.
Among the constituencies, Makum recorded the highest turnout at 59.23%, followed by Sadiya at 58.03% and Margherita at 57.61%. Digboi registered 56.14%, while Doomdooma saw 55.42%. Tinsukia reported the lowest turnout so far at 53.63%.
Weather conditions remained largely favourable, with intermittent light drizzle that did not disrupt polling. Voters continued to queue at several booths despite brief spells of rain.
Polling has remained peaceful, with adequate security arrangements in place. Officials expect turnout to increase further in the later hours as more voters head to polling stations.
