Assam: Doctor’s wife arrested for torturing minor house help in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: In a shocking incident, the wife of a doctor based in Dibrugarh has been arrested for alleged physical torture of their minor house help, police said on Tuesday.

The neighbours complained to the police after which the woman was arrested, Officer in Charge of Dibrugarh Police Station, Raju Bahadur Chetry, said.

A relevant case has been registered against the woman under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), he said.

The minor girl, hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, has been with the couple since 2013.

According to reports, the doctor is a skin specialist and he has been on the run since the arrest of his wife, Chetry added.
