Assam: Congress releases list of star campaigners for Lok Sabha elections

Guwahati: The Indian National Congress has unveiled its roster of star campaigners for Assam during the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19, 2024.

The list, submitted to the Election Commission of India, includes prominent party leaders who will spearhead the campaign as per Section 77(1) of the Representation of People Act 1951.

Heading the list are stalwart figures of the Congress party starting with the president of the Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge followed by top leaders including Sonia Gandhi.

Other notable campaigners comprise Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, and Priyanka Gandhi Vodra, among others.

Senior members Paban Singh Ghatowar and Ranee Narah are also on the list alongside emerging voices like Shri Kanhaiya Kumar and Alka Lamba.

It may be mentioned that the Congress will be contesting for 13 seats out of 14 in Assam.

The most important seats for the grand old party have been said to be the Nagaon, Jorhat and Dhubri seats.
