New Delhi: Congress MP from Assam, Gaurav Gogoi, expressed disappointment over the treatment of Manipur MPs, specifically criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's approach.

Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi's remarks follows the line of the Congress party and particularly Rahul Gandhi's insistence that both Manipur MPs be given the opportunity to speak during the Motion of Thanks.

Gaurav Gogoi stated that Rahul Gandhi, who had visited Manipur, witnessed first hand the state's deep societal divisions and near-civil-war conditions.

He said that Rahul Gandhi understood the significance of allowing the Manipur MPs to voice their concerns, fearing that silencing them would send a negative message to the people of Manipur.

"Yesterday, we saw a saddening thing in the parliament," Gaurav Gogoi stated.

"The PM doesn't want to listen to the grievances of Manipur. We didn't get the 2 minutes but we had to listen to the PM for 2 hours, during which he kept repeating all those old allegations, jokes, and satire. He took the politics to a newer low."

The Assam Congress MP criticized PM Modi for dismissing the request, suggesting instead that the Congress party should address their own issues if they felt silenced.

He questioned why the Prime Minister, who was willing to offer water to opposition MPs, lacked the patience to listen to the representatives from Manipur.

"PM Modi is showing his back in a planned way to Manipur," Gogoi asserted, accusing the Prime Minister of ignoring the advice of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

The incident, according to Gogoi, reflects a broader disregard for the critical issues facing Manipur and a failure to engage constructively with the concerns of its people.
