GUWAHATI: An FIR has been lodged against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing the hardships faced by ordinary citizens of Assam due to stringent security measures during his visit to Guwahati recently.

The FIR, filed by Assam Congress leader Ramen Kumar Sarma at the Bhangagarh police station in Guwahati, details the “distressing experiences” of the populace amidst barricades and traffic restrictions during the PM’s visit to the city.

The FIR outlines the challenges encountered by common people as the city grappled with heightened security arrangements preceding the Prime Minister's visit.

On April 16, Guwahati experienced unprecedented disruptions to daily life as roads were cordoned off and barricades erected to ensure the Prime Minister’s security.

Commuters found themselves trapped in extensive traffic jams, turning routine journeys into strenuous endeavours amid the roadblocks.

According to the FIR, the consequences of these traffic restrictions became alarmingly evident when an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient became stranded in the congested streets.
