GUWAHATI: Outskirts of Guwahati city in Assam, near Rani-Guimari Pathar, were the site of a troubling discovery on Thursday (May 02).

Eight vultures and one kite were found dead in the outskirts of Guwahati city in Assam on Thursday (May 02).

Among the dead birds were two white-backed vultures, six Himalayan griffon vultures, and one black kite.

The dead birds were recovered by the Vulture Conservation Breeding Centre at Rani near Guwahati city in Assam.

Prompt action was taken by Assam forest department, who swiftly dispatched a team to investigate the scene.

Initial assessments suggest that the cause of death may be linked to the ingestion of poisoned carcasses.

This incident has sparked concern among nature enthusiasts, especially in South Kamrup, where over 200 similar deaths of vultures have been documented in various locations.
