Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has been opening Rail Coach Restaurants across its major railway stations with an aim to provide a unique dining ambience to the people.

These restaurants have been strategically opened at the vacant spaces in the circulating areas providing dining opportunities to both the rail passengers as well as the general public.

The NF Railway has modified some of its discontinued coaches that are not fit for operation and converted them into coach restaurants.

These Rail Coach Restaurants have gained immense popularity among the travellers and the general public.

As many as 16 such coach restaurants are currently operational across the major railway stations under the jurisdiction of the NF Railway.

In Assam, Rail Coach Restaurants are operational at Kokrajhar, Rangiya, Guwahati, Lumding and New Tinsukia railway stations.

These coach restaurants are being designed with aesthetic and beautifully heritage looks giving a touch of local culture for the attraction of the people.

The rail passengers can seek a quick yet delightful meal before or after their journey.

Passersby and the nearby residents of these coach restaurants can also enjoy a sumptuous meal with family and friends to have an ecstatic feeling of dining in train coaches.

Facilities to buy food, snacks and beverages at these coach restaurants are also available.

These coach restaurants aim to cater to the needs of the rail passengers and the general public apart from generating non-fare revenue for the Indian Railways.

This initiative of the NF Railway is also creating employment opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers across the region.
