“We will change our ministry and give it a new look. We need to prepare the team for the 2026 assembly elections that will work with new energy," the Assam chief minister stated.

Sarma indicated that while no final decision has been made, the reshuffle process will begin in about a month, culminating in a new ministry by mid-August.

He revealed that three new members would be inducted into the cabinet, addressing the two existing vacancies and another expected vacancy as Assam excise, transport, and fisheries minister Parimal Suklabaidya has recently won the Lok Sabha polls from Silchar.

The Assam chief minister clarified that not all current ministers would be replaced, but departmental responsibilities are likely to be reshuffled to inject new vigour into the administration.
