In Assam, cheating in exams may invite three years in jail

GUWAHATI: If any person is caught cheating in exam, he or she may have to face a jail term of up to three years.

This is part of a new bill, which was introduced in the Assam legislative assembly on Monday (February 05).

The Assam cabinet has introduced the “Assam Public Examination Bill” in the state’s legislative assembly during the budget session.

According to the proposed law introduced in the Assam assembly, cheating in exams may lead to three years in jail along with a fine of Rs 10 lakh.

Furthermore, leaking examination papers will attract Rs 10 crore fine and 10 years prison term.
