National Law University Meghalaya is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts or jobs of Research Associate and Field Investigator for the ICCSR Minor Research Project entitled "Phonetic Database and Digital Preservation of the Sumi Tribal Language: A Sociolinguistics and Cultural Study" in 2025.

Name of post : Research Associate

No. of posts : 1

Remuneration: Rs. 47,000 per month (consolidated)

Minimum Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in a Social Science discipline (minimum 55% marks). NET / MPhil/PhD

Experience : Minimum 2 years research experience as a Research Assistant or equivalent in any
research project

Mandatory: Fluent Sumi language speaker and writer

Desirable: Experience in field-based documentation, transcription, and qualitative research, Community engagement or ethnographic research experience

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in phonetic and linguistic data collection
2. Support fieldwork, interviews, and documentation
3. Conduct literature review and academic writing
4. Manage project records and reporting

Name of post : Field Investigator

No. of posts : 1

Remuneration: Rs. 20,000 per month (consolidated)

Minimum Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in a Social Science discipline (minimum 55% marks)

Mandatory: Fluent Sumi language speaker and writer

Desirable: Field research experience, particularly in community settings

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct field interviews, surveys, and audio documentation
Assist in logistics and field coordination
Support transcription, data organization, and archiving
