CSIR -STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING RESEARCH CENTRE (CSIR-SERC), Chennai is a premier institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with involvement in multidisciplinary R&D programmers of both basic and applied nature across scientific disciplines for economic, environmental and societal benefits for the people of India. The laboratory ‘s thrust areas of R & D are Structural health monitoring and Life extension, Disaster mitigation. It also includes Sustainable materials and structures, Special and Multi – functional Structures, Energy Infrastructure and Offshore Structures. The Centre has built up excellent facilities for testing of structures and structural models, and also for mathematical modeling and simulation.
