Applications are invited for recruitment of various counselling positions or career in Assam Medical College.

Assam Medical College is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the post or career of Counsellor under the project "Drug Treatment Clinic" funded by DDAP, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh is one of the premier and oldest medical institutes of the NE region of India. British Philanthropist Sir John Berry White, a retired brigadier of British army and later the civil surgeon of the erstwhile Lakhimpur district in 1870, contributed his lifetime earning of Rupees Fifty Thousand (present day valuation is more than 50 million of rupees to establish his brain child “Berry White Medical School” in 1900 AD. This school heralded the beginning of Allopathic Medical Education by conferring LMP Diploma in old undivided Assam.

Qualification & Experience :

Master in Social work/Humanities/ Sociology/Psychology

Minimum of 3 years of experience in counseling.

Experience of working in the field of drug/addiction counseling is desirable.

Salary : Rs. 15000/- per month

Age Limit : 35 years

Job Roles :

1. Undergoing training provided by the National centre/regional centres.
2. Providing assessment and diagnostic services.
3. Providing referral services to patients, including referral of health conditions, other social needs as
   well as referral to the higher centre for management of cases of substance use disorder.
4. Liaise with other departments of the hospital to enhance referrals to the DTC.
5. Conducting awareness activities in the community (to enhance help seeking)
6. Establishing linkage with the NGOs working in the community (to enhance help seeking)
7. Computer proficiency is a must. Should be able to use work on MS word, Excel, powerpoint or other
   standard business-required programs with relative ease.
