Applications are invited for recruitment of various administrative positions or career in Gauhati University Assam.

Gauhati University Assam is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the post or career of Vice Chancellor. Gauhati University is altogether one of the premier institutions of higher education in Northeast India and one of the most sought-after postgraduate institutions. Being the oldest and the largest university in the entire Northeast, the university represents the academic and cultural background of the region, on which the other academic institutions of Northeast India started their journey. Being the pioneer educational institute also, it extends its hand holding support to all subsequent academic institutions in this region. Indologist and philanthropist Krishna Kanta Handiqui was the founder Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University. Some very illustrious sons and daughters of Assam have been its alumni. The campus becomes shrouded in thick, white fogs in the winter months. The foggy months starts from October and continues till early February. The ambient temperature in the campus stays almost one to three degrees below the temperature of the city area and the surroundings due to its greeneries.

Eligibility Criteria :

Academicians who have attained excellence with proven leadership quality and eligible as per UGC Norms (minimum experience of 10 years as Professor or equivalent).

Age Limit :

The retirement age of the VC is 70 years and as such person with maximum age of 65 years (on the last date of application i.e. 16th April, 2024) shall be preferred unless in exceptional case of outstanding candidate(s) with proven record of excellence in similar position.
