Assam: Arms and ammunition cache recovered in Tinsukia 

Dibrugarh: Security forces on Saturday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition buried in the Upper Dehing Reserve Forest in Tinsukia, Assam.

Assam DGP GP Singh in a post on X said, "Continuing our efforts against unlawful weapon holding, One Heckler & Koch SMG, 130 rounds Ammunition, 2 magazines and approximately one KG PEK explosive powder recovered by Police in Tinsukia. Suspected of belonging to a proscribed organization active on the Assam-Arunachal border."

Tinsukia superintendent of police Abhijit Gurav Dilip speaking on the recovery said, "We received information about the weapons and based on the input, a joint operation was launched in The Upper Dehing Reserve Forest."

He added that during the operation the police team recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

"It has been suspected that the arms and ammunition cache belongs to some insurgent groups", he added.

"Our operation has been going on in the Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border area for a long time. We suspect that some over-ground workers of militant outfits may have kept the items to hide from security forces," Gurav said.

Earlier, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a jungle area of Tinsukia district.
