Guwahati: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a warning for Assam and Meghalaya, predicting extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days.

The downpour is expected to begin today, June 16, and continue until June 20.

Guwahati will experience generally cloudy skies with intermittent rain throughout this period.

The cause of the intense weather is a cyclonic circulation located over northeast Assam.

This weather system is also responsible for the ongoing landslides in Sikkim.

While thunderstorms and lightning are a possibility across the northeastern states, Assam and Nagaland are expected to receive the brunt of the rainfall, with heavy to very heavy showers forecast.

Localized heavy rain is also likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
