Assam: 60-year-old man rapes minor girl in Lakhimpur, arrested

Guwahati: The Assam Police on Saturday arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly raping a five-year-old minor girl in North Lakhimpur district of Assam.

The heinous crime took place in the district’s Harmuti area late Friday evening.

According to the police, the sexagenarian accused allegedly raped the minor girl in his shop.

The victim was later discovered by her mother inside the shop who soon informed the local police.

The girl was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where she is currently being treated.

As the nefarious crime came to the fore, the enraged locals staged a protest outside the police station demanding strict action against the accused.

Meanwhile, the police have been ascertaining the details of the case.
