Ask Jayanta Mallabaruah to keep his mouth shut: BJP MLA to Assam CM

Guwahati: Over the past few days an internal feud has been reported from within the Bharatiya Janata Party members in Assam.

While it is known that internal clashes within the BJP are kept within the party's confidence and are hardly ever made public, the same cannot be said when it comes to Assam.

Internal clashes within the BJP are usually solved through meetings called on by the leadership of the party.

However, in the past few months, the clashes have gone public as one of its top leaders had criticized the government recently leading to a chain of attacks and cross-attacks.

On Wednesday senior BJP leader and MLA from the Khumtai constituency, Mrinal Hazarika slammed Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on social media.

Saikia was responding to certain statements that Mallabaruah had made against senior BJP leader and former MLA Ashok Sarma.

Jayanta Mallabaruah who had defected to the BJP in 2015 from the Congress with the current Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma allegedly claimed that other party members had not dedicated much to the BJP. He claimed that he had made more contributions to the BJP than several other members of the party.

Along with this, he made several other statements which did not go well with other BJP leaders.

Mrinal Saikia taking the issue on social media asked the Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma to "tell" Jayanta Mallabaruah to keep his "mouth shut" on party affairs claiming that his (Mallabaruah's) style of talking had spoiled thousands of votes belonging to the BJP in 2024.

Saikia on his official X handle wrote, "Respected HCM @himantabiswa sir, pl tell @jayanta_malla to keep his mouth shut about party affairs. He should realise by now that his style of talking has already spoiled thousands of @bjp4assam votes in this #election2024."

It may be mentioned that earlier Ashok Sarma was served with a show-cause notice for his statements on the media regarding internal party affairs and criticizing the government.
