PM Modi to launch Rs 5,100 cr development projects in Arunachal, Tripura on September 22

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Monday, September 22, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over Rs 5,100 crore.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) described these projects as key efforts to boost infrastructure, preserve cultural heritage, and drive economic growth across India’s Northeast.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for two flagship hydropower projects: the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW).

Valued at over Rs 3,700 crore, these projects will be developed in the Siyom sub-basin, tapping into the state’s vast hydroelectric potential.

According to the PMO, these initiatives will strengthen the national renewable energy grid and significantly enhance energy security in the region.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Convention Centre in Tawang, located at an altitude of over 9,820 feet.

Designed to host more than 1,500 delegates, the centre aims to meet international standards and serve as a landmark venue for national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions, greatly enriching the region’s tourism and cultural profile.

In addition to hydropower, the Prime Minister will announce major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,290 crore, spanning connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and essential facilities such as working women’s hostels.

These initiatives aim to stimulate economic activity, improve living standards, and generate employment across Arunachal Pradesh.

The Prime Minister will also engage with local taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives to assess the impact of recent GST rate rationalisation, reaffirming his government’s focus on building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In the second leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Tripura, where he will inaugurate the redevelopment of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex at Matabari, under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme.

This ancient temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, is located in Udaipur town of Gomati district and holds immense religious significance.

The redeveloped complex, designed in the shape of a tortoise when viewed from above, now features new pathways, renovated entrances, modern drainage systems, and enhanced fencing.

A newly constructed three-storeyed facility includes stalls, a meditation hall, guest accommodations, and office rooms.

Officials believe the project will drive tourism, create local jobs, and promote socio-economic development in Tripura, reinforcing its identity as a center of spiritual heritage.

The Prime Minister’s back-to-back visits to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura highlight his government’s commitment to integrating the Northeast into the national development narrative, blending infrastructure progress with the preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage.
