ITANAGAR: In a significant botanical breakthrough, researchers from the Arunachal Pradesh Regional Centre of the Botanical Survey of India have discovered a new plant species in the Mandala region of West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.
The newly identified species has been named Petrocosmea Arunachalense, marking only the second known species of the genus Petrocosmea in India, which belongs to the family Gesneriaceae.
This discovery highlights the rich biodiversity of Arunachal Pradesh, a region already renowned for its diverse flora.

“Belonging to the family Gesneriaceae, this is only the second known species of the genus Petrocosmea found in the country. Let us keep preserving the hidden treasures of nature.”
