Itanagar: In the wake of relentless heavy rain, Leparada district in Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed severe flooding, submerging several acres of crops.

The torrential downpour also triggered a landslide, blocking the Aalo-Pangin Pasighat road in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The landslide has disrupted road communication near Yeksing, leaving numerous commercial and private vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway due to the massive debris pile.

T Pema, the district disaster management officer (DDMO) of Leparada in Arunachal Pradesh, confirmed that district administration officials are currently assessing the extensive damage caused by the continuous rainfall.

“Officials are on the ground, visiting submerged wet rice cultivation fields to evaluate the situation,” Pema said.

The DDMO has issued an urgent appeal to residents living near riverbanks and in landslide-prone areas to relocate to safer locations.

“We are maintaining a strict vigil in the flooded areas to ensure the safety of the residents,” she added.

The heavy rain and subsequent flooding have raised significant concerns about agricultural losses and road safety.

The authorities in Arunachal Pradesh are focused on providing immediate relief and conducting thorough assessments to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster on the affected communities.
