Arunachal: Upper Siang DC inspects Panggo–Jorging Defence Road construction, records steady progress
Guwahati: Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang on Saturday conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 82-km Panggo–Jorging Defence Road, being carried out by NHIDCL through an EPC contractor.
The road is designed to provide essential last-mile connectivity to Army and ITBP border outposts at Tango-1 and Tango-2.
Construction on the project began on January 26, and within ten months, the contractor has completed 15.5 km of formation cutting.
The work also includes the construction of breast walls and retaining walls at multiple locations, a significant achievement given the challenging hilly terrain of the region.
During his inspection and discussions with project engineers, the Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress and directed strict adherence to quality standards at all stages of construction, including sub-grade preparation and the laying of GSB, WMM, DBM, and bituminous concrete layers.
He stated that the completion of the defence road will enhance strategic mobility and improve access to remote border areas.
