Arunachal: ULFA-I cadre surrenders in Tirap following joint operation
Dibrugarh: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Tirap Police and Assam Police, facilitated the surrender of an active ULFA-I cadre during a joint operation in the General Area Noglo Village in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap.
Based on specific intelligence inputs by 4 Det ECIB and further confirmed by technical inputs from 36 LIC regarding the presence and movement of the insurgent, the joint team launched an operation, leading to the voluntary surrender of 'SS Pvt' Kamal Akhun alias Vikas Mohanta (23), affiliated with the banned outfit ULFA.
One 7.65 Pistol, one Magazine, and six 7.65 live rounds were deposited during the surrender.
The surrendered individual, along with the deposited weapon and ammunition, has been handed over to Tirap Police for further legal formalities and rehabilitation procedures as per established norms.
The successful outcome of this joint operation reflects the strong inter-agency coordination between Assam Rifles, Tirap Police, and Assam Police, and highlights their collective efforts to encourage insurgents to return to the mainstream.
Assam Rifles continues to work with state agencies to maintain stability across Arunachal Pradesh and support the established procedures for rehabilitation.
