Arunachal: Security forces apprehend NSCN (K–Niki Sumi) cadre in Tirap
Dibrugarh: Security forces apprehended an active cadre of NSCN (K–Niki Sumi) in the general area of Hukanjuri in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Thursday.
The cadre has been identified as SS Captain Jenlong Supong, an armed member of the NSCN (K–Niki Sumi) faction.
Following a tip-off, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police, launched the operation.
Acting on credible inputs from ECIB and 3 CIB, a column comprising troops of 44 Assam Rifles and police representatives moved to the location and conducted a precise and well-planned intervention.
The operation resulted in the recovery of one pistol, one magazine, six live rounds, one mobile phone, and one PAN card from the apprehended individual.
The cadre was subsequently handed over to the Khonsa Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Niki Sumi faction of NSCN has been active in the Tirap, Longding, and Changlang (TLC) region of Arunachal Pradesh.
It is reportedly running massive extortion drives targeting locals and businessmen.
