Arunachal Pradesh: Sela Tunnel to undergo third-party safety audit
ITANAGAR: The strategically important Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh is set to undergo a third-party safety audit prior to its inauguration.
The safety audit of the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh is expected to get concluded by mid-February.
After the conclusion of the safety-audit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh.
The tunnel is located near Sela Pass in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Construction of the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh was necessitated as the Balipara-Charidwar-Tawang Road remains closed for an extended period due to snowfall and landslides caused by heavy rainfall every year.
The Sela Tunnel will enable all-weather access to Tawang in western Arunachal Pradesh, near the international border with China.
