Guwahati: Police in Arunachal Pradesh's Itanagar have arrested a man allegedly linked to heroin distribution in the city, marking a significant move in the state’s anti-drug efforts.

The 22-year-old suspect, identified as Anitullah, originally from Bihar and residing in Ganga Market, was taken into custody after intelligence pointed to his involvement in supplying narcotics locally.

A joint team from the Itanagar Women Police Station and Capital Police conducted a search at the suspect’s residence, recovering 94 vials containing roughly 14 grams of suspected heroin.

Authorities estimated the street value of the seized drugs at around Rs 2.5 lakh.

A case has been filed under Sections 21(b), 27(A), and 29 of the NDPS Act. Senior officials said the arrest is part of a wider strategy to disrupt drug networks operating in the capital region.

Police described Anitullah as a repeat offender, and the latest seizure is expected to help trace supply routes and ongoing narcotics investigations.

Authorities added that similar operations will continue as part of intensified measures against drug trafficking.
