Arunachal Pradesh Congress observes Indira Gandhi’s birthday, urges youth to uphold her values
Guwahati: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) marked the 108th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Wednesday, November 19, at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in Itanagar.
Party leaders remembered her as a leader known for vision, courage, and nation-building.
APCC President Bosiram Siram paid tribute and encouraged citizens, especially young people, to follow Gandhi’s example and uphold values like secularism, social justice, inclusive growth, and national unity.
He said her leadership during difficult times continues to influence India’s democratic framework.
Siram highlighted Gandhi’s efforts in maintaining national integrity, promoting self-reliance, elevating India’s international standing, and protecting marginalised communities.
He said her policies set lasting standards in governance and inclusive development.
He also mentioned her key reforms, including the Green Revolution, bank nationalisation, poverty alleviation initiatives, and strengthening democratic institutions, adding that her decisive actions during crises reflected her dedication to the nation.
“As we commemorate her birth anniversary, we must renew our dedication to the values she championed—secularism, social justice, national unity and fearless leadership,” he said, stressing the importance of courage, compassion, and public service in nation-building.
Siram noted that Gandhi’s teachings are especially relevant today as divisive forces threaten social harmony and urged Arunachal Pradesh citizens to promote unity and progress.
The APCC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Gandhi’s vision through democratic governance and balanced development in the state.
