Arunachal Governor reviews state security, calls for tech-driven vigilance
Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) held a high-level security review at Lok Bhavan on December 23, focusing on the safety and well-being of the state’s residents.
State Home Minister Mama Natung, Chief Secretary Manish Gupta, senior officials, representatives from the State Police, Border Roads Organisation, Assam Rifles, and Central Reserve Police Force, along with Deputy Commissioners and Police Superintendents from Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts, attended the meeting.
The session followed up on decisions made at the Security Review Meeting in Namsai on July 26, 2025.
Governor Parnaik stated that peace and security are the foundation of development, and people can grow and prosper only when they feel safe at home and in their communities.
He urged authorities to adopt a people-focused approach, ensuring proactive measures to protect lives, livelihoods, and public trust, particularly in sensitive and border areas.
He also encouraged the use of modern technology by security forces and civil administration to strengthen the state’s safety mechanisms.
Referring to the arrest of agents and Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic importance, he warned of potential threats from external elements and neighbouring states, emphasizing the need for constant vigilance. “When Arunachal Pradesh is secure, the nation is secure,” he added.
The Governor praised the coordination among uniformed forces and lauded the armed forces for their efforts in building strong relations with local communities, underlining that public confidence is as important as operational readiness.
During the meeting, Home Minister Mama Natung outlined key initiatives such as the surrender policy for reintegrating misguided youth, the e-Inner Line Permit (e-ILP) system, and other measures aimed at improving internal security and governance.
He assured that the government will continue to maintain peace, provide better services, and keep citizens safe.
Officials from the State Police, Border Roads Organisation, and district administrations shared updates on progress, actions taken, and challenges since the Namsai meeting to strengthen security in the state.
