Guwahati: A fire broke out in seven rooms of the boys' hostel at Indira Gandhi College in Tezu in Arunachal’s Lohit district, during the early hours of November 7, displacing several students but fortunately causing no casualties.

The prompt response of the fire brigade was crucial in avoiding any loss of life.

Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, and investigations are underway.

Later in the day, the Minister for Women and Child Development visited the affected students at the Dangrithan Old Boys Hostel, providing immediate cash relief from her personal funds to help them manage the losses.
