Pasighat: A Class VII student was found dead in connection with a case at Arunachal's Sainik School, Niglok, allegedly due to ragging by senior students.
Following the FIR filed by the deceased boy’s father, a total of eight students were apprehended by the Arunachal police and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pasighat on 4th November.
The earlier case registered under Section 194 of BNS has been upgraded to Ruksin PS Case No. 20/25 u/s 108/106(1)3(5) BNS, following the additional FIR filed by the deceased student’s parent on 3rd November.
The eight apprehended CCLs (Children in Conflict with Law) were produced before the JJB, and the Principal Magistrate of the Board sent them to the custody of the Vice Principal of Sainik School, Niglok, for a period of one week.
The magistrate also directed the guardians to execute an undertaking or bond in Form 8 under Rule 11(6) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules.
Police stated that the investigation is ongoing to collect further evidence and bring the case to its logical conclusion. Further investigation is underway, the police added.
Meanwhile, the Apatani Students’ Union (ASU) visited Sainik School, Niglok, to inquire into the recent tragic incident involving a Class VII student, aged approximately 12 years, who was found dead on 1st November 2025.
The visit was conducted in collaboration with the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), the All Lower Subansiri District Students’ Union (ALSDSU), and the All East Siang District Students’ Union (ESDSU).
During the visit, the student bodies expressed deep concern over the incident and issued a two-week ultimatum to the district administration and police to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
They cautioned that failure to comply within the stipulated period may lead to a democratic movement by the unions.
The unions further urged for a speedy, transparent, and accountable investigation, demanded strict punishment for those found guilty, and appealed to the authorities to deliver justice to the victim’s family.
