Arunachal Deputy CM Chowna Mein unveils 100-ft Tricolour at Barakundam

Dibrugarh: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Saturday hoisted a 100-foot-high flag post with the nation's Tricolour at Barakundam under Kibithu circle in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district.

Barakundam is close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Describing the installation of the high flag post as a historic occasion, Mein said it was "personally an emotional moment" for him.

"It is a historic occasion and it has been an emotional moment for me. The government is committed to bring in rapid development in the bordering areas of the state. The Tricolour will instill a greater sense of patriotism among the villagers who have all along remained patriotic," DCM Chowna Mein said.

"We are here to celebrate Walong Day. This year we are celebrating the 63rd Walong Day. The 1962 Sino-India War took place here, and it's a very historical day for us," said Mein.

Apart from the high flag post, a viewpoint, Arunachal minister Dasanglu Pul, MLAs Dr. Mopi Chai, Punniyo Apum, Mopi Mihu, DC Millo Kojin, and a host of other dignitaries were present during the programme.
