Arunachal: Class 11 student found dead at private school in Aalo
Guwahati: A class 11 student was found dead at a private school in Arunachal's Aalo town, West Siang District, on Sunday morning.
The body of the student, identified as Tato Pado, was found hanging in the bathroom under suspicious conditions.
His death, which occurred early on November 9, marks the second suspected suicide at a boarding school in Arunachal Pradesh within a fortnight.
Local police were promptly alerted and have initiated an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the tragedy.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another death at Sainik School, Niglok, in East Siang district.
On November 1, a 12-year-old Class 7 student was found dead within the school premises. Initially reported as a suicide, the case has since taken a more troubling turn.
The victim's sister, Tadu Lunia, Miss Arunachal 2024, has publicly accused senior students of bullying and tormenting her brother.
In a video posted to Instagram on November 5, Lunia revealed that dormitory mates had described incidents that could have contributed to her brother's tragic decision to end his life.
Lunia’s allegations of severe bullying have raised serious concerns among the public and the family, who are now demanding a thorough investigation into the role of ragging and harassment in the death.
The two deaths in less than two weeks have sparked a wider debate about the safety and well-being of students at residential schools in the state. The Education Department has yet to issue a statement in response to the incidents.
Meanwhile, police continue their investigations into both deaths, as the community and family members await answers.
