ITANAGAR: Authorities in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended six Myanmar nationals over suspicions of illegally crossing the international border.

Riki Kamsi, the Superintendent of Police in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, reported that the individuals were detained along with six kilograms of mushrooms, utensils, and Rs 68,000 in cash.

A case has been registered at the Hawai police station in Arunachal Pradesh in connection with the incident.

According to police officials, the arrested individuals, hailing from Putou town in Myanmar, had been residing in Indian territory for several weeks or even months.

Kamsi explained that the Myanmar nationals entered Indian territory while gathering mushrooms, using a route commonly utilized by the Indian army for border patrolling.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that the arrest involves seven Myanmar nationals found camping in various villages, engaging in the extraction of rare medicinal plants, herbs, and mushrooms, as well as hunting wild animals.

The Indian Army has been notified, and a joint interrogation with the Strategic Intelligence Branch (SIB) has been scheduled.

The investigation aims to ascertain the location of their reported camp and determine if others are present in the area.
